During Mojang’s Minecraft Live 2024 stream on September 28th, the company announced a new game update for version 1.22. Currently, the update is early access and will be fully added to the game later. While the exact date is unclear, chief storyteller Lydie Winters stated it would be released in a few months.
The newest biome added is the Pale Garden, bringing a white wood type. This biome is home to The Creaking, a weeping angel-esque mob that only moves when you don’t look at it.

“The Creaking Heart and its Creaking puppet really comes with a new combat challenge or combat mechanic,” said Agnes Larsson, Minecraft’s game director, in Minecraft Live 2024 about the new monster.
When you hit The Creaking it creates resin clumps on the tree with the Creaking Heart in it. With these clumps, you can smelt them, and decorate your armor trims with a bright orange color.
The rest of this mob’s mechanics are shown “both in the way that we need to destroy the heart block to actually kill The Creaking and also of course that The Creaking only moves when you look away.”
Bundles have finally been added to the game allowing players to now store a stack of 64 different items in one inventory slot. It also gives Bedrock players hardcore mode, where you only have one life.

Mojang has said that they want to keep dropping more “feature nuggets” giving the Minecraft community more minor updates over a shorter time period.
Jonathan Spayer said “They could’ve done an End update we’ve been asking for,” With the End, referring to the floating islands when you get to the “end” of the game.
