The 2025 Champaign Central High School softball season has begun. So far, it is shaping up to be a successful season for the lady Maroons.
The Maroons softball team had tryouts to get their rosters organized to begin practices. The players and coaches are very excited for the season ahead and are expecting to have a successful season.
The Maroons are planning to build off of last season with a record of 16-12-1 and a conference record of 7-1. The Maroons had ended 2nd in the conference and are hoping to finish first this season.
The Maroons’ season will kick off at St. Teresa High School at 4:30 pm on Monday, March 24th, 2025. The team is hoping to get a clean sweep against the Bulldogs to get a warm welcome to the season ahead. Starting pitcher Haley Helm and starting third baseman Kaitlyn Helm both agreed, saying, “St. Teresa should be a good matchup for the first game. Hopefully, we can start the season with a win under our belts.”

The game will be streamed on Game Changer, a sports app where you can stream your favorite teams and watch them play by play. Assistant Head Coach Chris Kloeppel will be streaming the game. The Maroons are planning to have a winning season and are hoping to start that season against St. Teresa. A player on the softball team, Mya De La Cruz says, “It will be nice to start at St. Teresa because it’s a non-conference game, so even if we do lose, we won’t have a losing record in conference games.” Starting with a non-conference game will help the Maroons ease into this upcoming season.
