2024-25 was another year in the history books for Champaign Central’s Maroons, highlighted with boys basketball capturing their first Regional title in six years, and girls basketball sweeping its twin city rivalry games. In spring sports, softball started their season off at a record 22-2, chasing for a potential first postseason plaque since 1981, track & field broke school records in the Girls Pole Vault, 110m hurdles, and sent three events to girls state. In wrestling, brothers Ronald Baker III and Talin Baker competed at the state meet this February. In Swim & Dive, both the boys and girls programs continued their dominance over downstate Illinois, capturing sectional titles for both teams. In fall sports, cross country runner Caleb Mathias captured a state medal and the school record, and football made modest improvements despite major setbacks, going on to continue their dominance of the Wright Street Trophy with their ninth straight win against Urbana over the past 12 years.
