Prom season is just around the corner. People are buying dresses, picking their photo locations, and making dinner plans. The one thing that must be planned ahead of time, however, is the promposal. My advice for anyone asking someone to prom, from someone who wants to be asked to prom, is to do it ahead of time, make it personal, and remember that you can always ask a friend to go with you.
I also would like to say that I have received some pretty great dance posters, and made one too, so I would like to think I’m a pretty good source. My freshman year, I asked my best friend, and we had a really great time. Last year, she asked me, and it was great too. This year, my boyfriend asked me with a completely personal surprise poster that was a reference to a concert we went to this past summer.
For any softball and baseball players, or people who want to go to prom with them, any reference to stealing bases, grand slams or home runs can be used to make a pretty good poster. These sports are in season right now, so you definitely have the opportunity to prompose before the big day. Junior Shanley Davis, girlfriend of a Central Baseball player, said, “Doing something with his sport and us together would be so good,” when asked about what she thought he would do.
I think everyone has a Taco Bell fanatic in their life, and there are so many good slogans you can use. You can obviously pair this up with your date’s Taco Bell order. Junior Maddie Farthing, the Taco Bell fanatic in my life, said she would “love something with Taco Bell” when I asked her what she would want.
“Let’s TACO bout Prom”
“We’d have a Baja Blast at Prom”
The most commonly loved thing in the world by many is coffee. I know I enjoy a Vanilla Latte from Dunkin Donuts a lot, and I would not be mad if I got a sign that says “I would like it a LATTE if you came to Prom with me,” or “Prom together would be a slam DUNK,” or anything about ESPRESSO(ing) your feelings or excitement about going to Prom.
There’s always the classic, “I love you, you love flowers,” or “You’re obsessed with flowers, I’m obsessed with you,” and then another cheesy pun like “Don’t leaf me alone on Prom,” because there is no way to go wrong with flowers. Junior Amala Willenbrock said, “Flowers are a staple for any Promposal or something like that,” showing that flowers are important for any dance proposal.
Everybody likes donuts, but even if your potential prom date doesn’t, an idea like this can be done with cookies, brownies, or cake. If your date doesn’t have a sweet tooth, try putting toppings on pizza instead of frosting on a treat.
