Director Micheal Chaves has made a new movie, and the last of the franchise, The Conjuring: Last Rites. This movie came out on September 5, 2025 in theaters, and it has been a hit.
Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga resume playing Ed and Lorraine Warren in their new movie “Last Rites” with a spine-chilling scare. The first Conjuring movie, released in 2013, was a big thing when it first came out to the point that the director and screenwriters made 3 more movies to the franchise, including The Conjuring 2, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, and The Conjuring: Last Rites.
Set in 1986, paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren are hoping to enjoy retirement, but a family, the Smurls family, reaches out for help, so the Warrens travel to Pennsylvania and vanquish a demon from their home. This terrifying source of evil came from a large antique mirror given to the teen daughter, Heather, played by Kila Lord Cassidy.
It turns out that Lorraine came across this demon and had her own encounter with it just before her daughter Judy, played by Mia Tomlison, was born 22 years later.
In no time at all, a daunting axe murderer spirit came out of the dark and started to play around with the family. For instance, making faces and levitating Jack, known as Elliot Cowan, creaking around, turning off the electricity, and generally just making them all horrified.
The Warrens’ longtime clerical collaborator, Father Gordon, known as Steve Coulter, insists that the church authorities will listen to him, but the spirits are way ahead of them. They set the priest’s crucifix ablaze before killing him.
Despite this, not only do Ed and Lorraine eventually find ways to help the Smurl’s family from their awful spirit in their home, but Annabelle, the devilish doll that pictures the franchise, manages to put in an unexpected appearance as well.
The Conjuring: Last Rites is a very terrifying movie. Devven Frerichs from Centennial High School added on and said, “I love the movie. It’s really fun and suspenseful to watch, especially around fall time.” This franchise is a good movie to watch when Halloween is around the corner.
Other than “Last Rites”, a student at Central High School, Mia Melendez said, “I love the setting of the second movie and it’s really interesting. The nun Valek, in the movie, made the movie more scary,” and Lily Salvani from Centennial High Shool said, “The 2nd movie’s plot is my favorite because of the creepy old man and the nun. Plus, the effects in the movie are super cool.” All of the movies are very fun and thrilling to watch, but the majority of people’s favorite is The Conjuring 2.
This is the end of an era, and we’re all going to miss this franchise. Us people are going to go back and watch these movies with happiness. “This movie was sad, and I didn’t expect it to be this emotional. I’m sad these movies are coming to an end,” says Arianna Coy.

I like how you explain the movie thoroughly and use good descriptive words. The content warning at the end was also smart to add.
