Many people are thrilled that the days are getting colder and nights are getting longer. Fall is here, but maybe you’re having trouble determining what to do in this perfect fall weather. Here are some ideas for anyone struggling with figuring out what to do.
- Go to Curtis Orchard & Pumpkin Patch to take cute fall photos
Curtis Orchard is a great place to go with friends and family. Especially taking pictures for aesthetic purposes. It has an exciting corn maze, games, apple and pumpkin picking, a cafe, a giant slide, and a big inflatable for children. Avari Yu from Centennial High School said, “My favorite things are definitely the donuts and cider of course, and the corn maze is pretty fun, I also love how many places there are for pictures!”
- Hardy’s Reindeer Ranch
Hardy’s Reindeer Ranch is really close to Curtis Orchard so you could get a nice walk from Curtis to the Ranch. Admissions and parking is free but doing activities at the Ranch will cost some like the Reindeer tour costs around $5 – $10 per person. But other than that it is a very exciting place to go to with family or friends for a good time.
- Go and see cool exhibits at Spurlock Museum
The Spurlock Museum is a great place to go when you want to see some cool stuff! They have 9 permanent exhibits and they represent historical and contemporary people from around the world. You can also participate in educational programs and even attend public events like lectures and performances.
- Go read a cozy book at Champaign Public Library
The Champaign Public Library is a great place to go and read a book with no distractions. They provide food and drinks at their mini cafe and even have a small place to eat your food. In the basement they have a fun play room for all the younger children too. A student named Venice Barber from Central High School said, “I love how cozy the library is. It makes me very happy just knowing that I’m going to go.”
- Attending a Football Game at Memorial Stadium
Since fall started on the 22nd of September, football is up and coming to start. They provide food and drinks so when you’re hungry you can get some snacks and also watch the game! The next upcoming football game at Memorial Stadium is on November 1st against Rutgers University. Tickets are between $18 – $81.
- Watching a movie at AMC Theatre
Going to the AMC movie theater to watch a fun or thrilling movie would be exciting for the new fall season. Get some snacks and enjoy your movie! On Tuesdays, the Savoy Theatre has 5 dollar tickets!
- Pet animals at Prairie Farm
Prairie Farm is the perfect outside activity and you can see the variety of animals. You can feed some of the animals and go on the bridge and see the fish in the water below. They also have a nice place to take pictures!
- Watch a cool play at Virginia Theatre
Go to Virginia Theatre and watch a stirring show. It’s said to be extremely cool to see people perform at a very old place. “It’s pretty cool because it’s kind of like a time capsule of how past movie theatres were,” said Larra Lynch, a sophomore at Central High School.
- Go and have a good time at Hessel Park
Families and friends come here to have a good time. You can do anything here like, playing pickle ball or tennis, play volleyball in the open area, or play at the playground. Enjoy the park while you can!
- Go to Fright Fest at Six Flags
Going to Fright Fest sets the mood to fall. It has a spooky vibe but it is also a really fun place to hangout with friends. Getting scared by monsters, going on scary rides, and playing games for prizes. “I love this time of year so I can go to Six Flags for fright fest. It’s so fun but really scary especially when the monsters come out of nowhere,” said Cora Ashman, a sophomore at Central Highschool.
Doing these things during fall brings lots of happiness. Whether you do it alone or with friends. “I love fall so much because the cold and warm weather just makes it so much better than all the other seasons,” said Barber.

I like the way that you describe the places to go, and I want to include that for one of my articles that doesn’t involve food.

You did a really good job interweaving facts, opinions, and quotes! This is definitely something I want to try and emulate in my future articles. I also like your style of organization with simple bullet points followed by more detailed paragraphs.
