With 2025 quickly looming upon us, many people are rushing to choose resolutions to “better improve themselves” for the new year. Whether that be going to the gym more often or even eating healthier, there are a myriad of resolutions that people in the community can have for self-improvement. Here is a list of complied resolutions of the people within the community.
Central senior, Sierra Smith, says her New Year’s resolution is to spend more time reading books. “I chose this resolution because when I was younger and had more free time, I really enjoyed reading for my own pleasure, but as of late I haven’t had a lot of free time to allow myself to read.”
Smith also expresses the beneficial aspects of reading, “This resolution benefits me by allowing me to expand my horizons as a reader and become more well-read!”
Ms. Smith, a Central teacher, states her resolution is to be kinder to herself with time. With the progression of the new year, it’s easy to get caught up in the chaos but taking time to prioritize yourself and your health is crucial above all else.
“I often feel really frustrated if I’m not feeling productive all the time, and I have a hard time relaxing,” says Smith. “But this year is very different, I will have my first baby in March of ‘25. So I think understanding as a resolution that nothing about my life will be the same and I can’t predict anything that will happen, so you just have to have a strategy and a plan because plans go array. Strategies are a process to help you work through that trajectory.”
Central freshman Sierra Young says that her New Year’s 2025 resolution is to try her best to have a successful 2025 goal-planning year, she also stated that her New Year’s resolution changed and resided to this because she didn’t have the very best 2024 year.
She also states “Me planning my 2025 year out would make my year way easier and maybe a little better once the year 2025 comes to an end “, her past few year resolutions were to go into 2023 with the same friends that she had through half of the school year but most of them didn’t stay.
Young also expressed that she thinks it could benefit her a lot because her planning goals throughout the year could help her push through with accomplishments without her giving up trying, she also feels that it could benefit others in her surroundings and community because it could inspire or encourage others to create yearly goals and resolutions to help them complete & accomplish their own goals also especially for the ones that procrastinate a lot.
She plans on completing this throughout the year and also states that she wishes everyone a great 2025.
Central freshman Amari Smith says that for his 2025 New Year’s resolution, he plans to gain a better six-pack than what he has now.
He says that he wants to gain one so he can look and feel stronger and better about his body. He also speaks about how his last few resolutions were to ”become nonchalant and get smarter.”
Smith states that his new resolution could help him get ready for sports that he’s going to do this year, and that “I want to get better at it so I can help my team win, and I can perform better in my best form.” He wants to have this resolution started by the end of this December, and he wants it to continue consistently until next summer.
He says that it can make him proud of himself and make him “attractive” and he says that he believes others should try the same resolution. He also states “Of course I can complete it, I just need to lock in and be consistent with no distractions.”
Central English teacher, Mrs. Cappa, said that she wants to become healthier when it comes to her eating habits. She believes that she already often eats healthily, but wants to become more consistent.
She believes her reason is to see if she can actually put herself on a strict diet with no interruptions and to do the best for herself and her body. She also mentioned that her last few resolutions were to get more steps and she stated that to her surprise, she did finish her resolution a day before hitting its due date.
Cappa says that it could help her body a lot to be more active and stronger, and it could really increase her hygiene even more. She states this could be beneficial for her health. Furthermore, she plans on starting fresh on January 1st, so at the end of the year, she could say she’s been going strong with this resolution. She says, “I can complete it as long as I don’t let the unhealthy food habits get in the way.”
