Showmance. Drama. Affairs of the heart. These are words to describe a soap opera, but also to describe the set of the new ‘Wicked’ movie, starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. This movie has been getting a lot of press recently, not just for its star-studded cast and massive fanbase, but also for an illicit affair between two of it’s leads.

Ethan Slater is a former Broadway star who most famously portrayed the character of ‘Spongebob’ in the musical adaptation of the Nickelodeon show ‘Spongebob Squarepants’. He was cast as Boq in the Wicked movie in late 2022, around the same time that pop star Ariana Grande was cast as Galinda/Glinda. At this time, Ariana was married to Dalton Gomez, who was not a particularly famous spouse for Ariana to have. Ethan was also married to Lilly Jay, his high-school sweetheart, and recently they had a child together. 

As it does when actors are close together for a long time, they began a relationship, which has slandered both of their names in the press since it came out in June.
