Nothing is more painful than seeing an adaptation of one of your favorite books and thinking, “Well… that wasn’t great.” Whether it’s because a certain scene isn’t in it, the cast doesn’t fit, or the ending just feels different, live-action adaptations have a reputation for disappointing their viewers.

Colleen Hoover already has a reputation for writing books that include adult topics like sexual abuse and trauma that are depicted as romantic, which isn’t. Most of her readers are a younger audience, but they don’t realize that this isn’t appropriate and not realistic. Colleen’s books are for adults and not teens. Once the movie came out, people had some mixed feelings about it. A student from Central High School named Emma Morison had said, “It was pretty similar to the book, which I like, but a few things were missing. I just wish they added more scenes from the book, and it would’ve made it better.”
But an avid movie watcher, Keeley Ashman said, “I thought it would’ve been better than it was because it was boring. The characters didn’t fit the book’s characters.” I felt the same way when I watched the movie. I thought it was going to be more entertaining, but it was honestly really boring.

Lots of Disney fans love the classical princess movies; how could you not? But according to Keira Mullen, a freshman at Central, thinks that “I don’t think the live-action captured the same fairy-tale charm that made the original so memorable.” Plus, the live-action felt more like a musical rather than a princess movie. There was less magic than I was expecting.
In the original animated Snow White movie, the magic exists because of the nostalgic feeling. Old Disney movies have that nostalgic magic that we don’t have today.

Unpopular opinion, I really like the Percy Jackson movies because I’m a big fan of Greek mythology, and Grover adds humor to the movies. Plus, I like how Percy is older because he makes more mature choices. I haven’t read the books, but I think the two movies are good. However, lots of people have strong opinions about these new Live-Action Adaptations.
I think the original movie is overall good, but the second wasn’t as good as the first. Daniel Burris, a fan of the book series, says, “I liked The Lightning Thief movie, but Sea of Monsters was totally distinct from the book. I wish it were better.” The Lightning Thief is the one that people, including me, like more.

Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters had more bad reviews than the first one, according to parents on commonsensemedia.org. One of the comments, from user Hannagwozdz, reads, “I was hoping for something good, and this movie does not live up to the books. Annabeth is not as tough as she could be, and Tyson is way better in the book. Read the book, don’t watch the movie!” I wish I could agree, but I liked this movie. It wasn’t as good as the first.
The second book was criticized for rushing the plot by combining Sea of Monsters with The Last Olympian. “I hated how the directors rushed the plot. There were a few scenes that were missing from the book in the movie. I don’t understand why they couldn’t finish the series instead of combining the two movies together,” Daniel Burris commented.

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder book series is a popular series for its suspenseful, true-crime style. Teens all around the world, including me, love this series but when it got turned into a TV show, I started to not like it as much. A student from Central High School named Emma Morison said, “The show was good, but there were a few scenes missing from the book.” If more of the scenes from the book were added, I feel like the show would be better.
I thought the TV show lacked lots of spookiness because the books were very eerie. “I loved how frightening the books made me feel. There were lots of moments where I had to look around to see if anyone was there,” said Morison. I totally agree with Emma because I didn’t feel as scared watching the show than the books.
These movies are all examples of why we should stop creating Live-Action Modifications. Live-Action Adaptations usually come out really bad but some are better than others. “Some book adaptations and live-action adaptations can be good, but most aren’t the best. So I think we should stop making these and keep the fun charm,” said Brie Klimek.
